The Royal Photographic Society was founded in 1853 ‘to promote the Art and Science of Photography’ and is located in Bath. Membership is open to everyone interested in photography. Members can also join one or more of the specialist groups which concentrate more closely upon their chosen interests within the medium: from digital imaging to fine printing.

Designed by John Wood the Younger in 1769, at a time when Bath and its spa were becoming fashionable among polite society, the Assembly Rooms were both a meeting place and a venue for public functions - now run by Bath & North East Somerset Council, which has its Museum of Costume on the lower ground floor.

The temporary exhibitions programme at the RUH has grown in size and in stature and we have built relations with arts organisations and individuals over the past 2 years. We are now a regular host for the Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition. The exhibitons change at regular intervals and are located in the main Atrium corridors, viewing is possible 7 days per week.
